About Us

As of July 2014, Turnagain is racing in the Vic Maui race.  The current crew consists of Adam MacLean, Steve Corcoran, Steve Tomlinson, Jason Bowman, Travis McGregor, Darin Frers, and Ty Abrams.  The return crew will be Travis, Dave Morgan, Eric Rimkeit, and MacKenzie Warrick.

Travis wrote the following 4 paragraphs about our family...but of course all that is on hold right now!

We are a family of four from the south coast of British Columbia. Catharine and I both spent summers boat-access only on the Sunshine Coast, (Catharine with her family at Buccaneer bay, and Travis in Secret Cove). We met there as teenagers and were eventually married in 2005.

We both spent a lot of time on various types of boats growing up, exploring the coast from the Gulf Islands to Desolation Sound, fishing, rowing, water skiing, dinghy sailing, and kayaking.   Shortly after finishing school Travis was involved in the scuba diving industry in Vancouver with a dive store and a dive suit manufacturing company. While Catharine was at UBC we spent a summer camping on the central coast (from Bramham Island to Calvert Island) helping with an underwater biodiversity survey and grey whale research (via fish boat and scuba).  This all strengthened a love for the ocean and desire to be on it (or under it) as much as possible.

Our first boat (pre-kids) was an Aloha 34.  After a few brief attempts at power boating (during a time in our life with young kids when we didn't have a lot of spare time to get places), we finally purchased Turnagain in 2010, taking delivery in October.  We've been very fortunate to spend a lot of time on the boat, travelling locally in Howe Sound, the Sunshine Coast, and Gulf Islands during the off-season, and up Johnstone Strait into the Broughton Archipelago during our first summer on Turnagain.

Boating is our primary pastime, because it's the one thing we can do as a family that we all enjoy...  Travis is the official skipper, and Callum loves to assist and look out for dolphins and whales. Sylvia is happy to play down below regardless of how rough the weather is and is an avid collector of things onshore, and Catharine's passion is photographing our adventures.
